Rafik Opti (1997) is a hybrid filmmaker, impassioned activist and versatile multidisciplinary storyteller. Their most recent completion of their studies at the Netherlands Film Academy, culminating in the graduation film "BLACK JOY" (Blaka Koloku). This Afro-futuristic film delves into the quest for self-determination among Black residents in Amsterdam, unearthing stories that resonate deeply with themes of independence. With the artistry of storytelling as their guide, Rafik dissects and celebrates the intricate tapestry of issues within the Black trans and queer community, igniting conversations and inspiring change by telling marvelous stories. Their work was exhibited at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Amsterdam Museum, The National Martine Museum, FOAM Museum, MOTORMOND, het Nederlandse Film Festival, OSCAM, Zuid Boijmans and Queer is Not A Manifesto.
